Uncle Bob's Magic Show (1998-Present)

Brief: Create a website for a children's entertainer. The site should be visually appealing to children, although aimed at parents. Since bookings are taken over the telephone the website should provide information that clients might need before booking or that cannot easily be conveyed by voice.

Detail: Many websites with a child-focus are cluttered with animations and too many colours. This website uses colour and images with care - text is black-on-white and clearly readable, but is set off with a red flash down the side of the page. The title and logo are bold and visible on each page and larger more focal images are placed down the side of the page. The visitor isn't confronted with everything at once, but can browse the site at their leisure. An FAQ section answers many client questions before they need to ask them.

Implementation: The website is kept simple, bold and visual. While not aimed specifically at children they can play a large part in determining who the parent books. Since the site is relatively small and because those who use it aren't necessarily seasoned web surfers most navigation is inline and there is no obtrusive links bar.

Feedback: People making enquiries often remark that they found Uncle Bob on the Internet with some going as far as to say that they booked him because of the contents of his website. Many others have visited the website to find out more information before telephoning.
